A mysterious visitor from deep space: what we now know about the 3I/ATLAS comet
A strange object from outside our solar system is passing through right now, and scientists are watching closely. Known as the 3I/ATLAS comet, this fast-moving visitor was first picked up by the ATLAS survey in July 2025. Since then, several of the world’s best space telescopes have turned toward it to learn what it is, where it came from, and whether it could tell us something new about space beyond our neighborhood.
